By Daniel Abia PORT HARCOURT – Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Wednesday swore in five commissioners approved by the state House of Assembly to join his new cabinet. Speaking after the ceremony at Government House, Port Harcourt, Fubara described the Assembly’s screening process as rigorous and expressed confidence in the competence of the newly appointed commissioners. “The nominees who successfully passed the process have demonstrated their readiness and understanding of the responsibilities of their offices,” the governor said, noting that he trusts they will serve in the best interest of the state. The five sworn-in commissioners are Mr. Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Mr. Lekue Kenneth, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart. Governor Fubara, however, did not comment on the remaining four nominees who were rejected by the Assembly due to discrepancies relating to tax and other matters. The initial list submitted to the Martins Amaewhule-led House of Assembly included nine nominees, of which five were approved.
