By Alumona Ukwueze NSUKKA — Former senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu North Senatorial District, Ejike Eze, has applauded the party for conducting peaceful and well-coordinated congresses across the 17 local government areas of Enugu State. Eze, a retired career diplomat and former Senior Special Assistant to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Protocols and Security, described the rancour-free exercise as a strong testament to the growing unity, maturity, and internal cohesion within the APC in the state. According to him, the peaceful conduct of the congresses underscores the party’s commitment to consensus building and internal democracy, stressing that such harmony is critical to positioning the APC for greater electoral success in the forthcoming 2027 general elections. “This is what we mean when we talk about consensus in action,” Eze said. “I want to commend every stakeholder who made this possible. I also congratulate all the executives elected at the local government level, from the chairmen to every other officer. Your emergence reflects the confidence the party members repose in your leadership.” He urged the newly elected party leaders to immediately embark on aggressive grassroots mobilisation, emphasizing that sustained engagement at the ward and local government levels would be instrumental in expanding the party’s support base ahead of the 2027 general elections. Eze further called on party faithful to close ranks and give maximum cooperation to the new executives, noting that unity of purpose would be the driving force behind the party’s anticipated electoral victories. Drawing optimism from recent political developments, he cited the APC’s performance in the Abuja Area Council election as an indication of the party’s rising popularity nationwide. He expressed confidence that the APC would replicate similar victories in Enugu State and other parts of the country in 2027. While assuring that the South East would support Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, he stated that the Renewed Hope Agenda policies have delivered development projects across the zone. In addition, Eze commended the political leadership of Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu State, for what he described as strategic political re-engineering efforts that have strengthened the party’s structure and made it more formidable against opposition forces. He also acknowledged the developmental strides of the Mbah administration and urged the people of Enugu North Senatorial District to sustain their support for the party, noting that continued collaboration between party leaders and the electorate would guarantee more dividends of democracy. Eze concluded by reiterating his confidence that the APC in Enugu State is better positioned than ever to consolidate its gains and secure a landslide victory in the 2027 general elections.
