Former AGF Aondoakaa resigns from APC

...Praises Tinubu and Akume By Peter Duru, Makurdi Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Aondoakaa, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective 28 March 2026. In a public statement, Aondoakaa said the decision followed “careful reflection and wide consultations with my family, political associates, and supporters,” adding that the move was “in the overall interest of my people and democratic values.” While expressing gratitude for his years in the party, he specifically commended the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, describing his administration as visionary and highlighting the support Benue State has received under his leadership. Aondoakaa assured the president of his continued loyalty to the “Renewed Hope Agenda.” He also praised the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, for his leadership within the APC in Benue State, acknowledging Akume’s role in shaping the state’s political landscape and offering his enduring respect. Aondoakaa thanked party members and leadership across Ushongo Local Government Area and the wider Benue State, noting the importance of relationships and experiences gained during his political career. Addressing his supporters, he called for calm and patience, stating, “At this critical time, I call on all my supporters and associates to remain calm, peaceful, and steadfast. A new direction aimed at salvaging and repositioning Benue State in the best interest of our people will be communicated in due course.” Observers say Aondoakaa’s resignation could signal upcoming political realignments in Benue State ahead of future elections.
