By Dickson Omobola Enugu Air, operated by XEJET, has acquired a new aircraft, an Embraer 195, marking another important step in their commitment to delivering safe, reliable and efficient air travel services. The airline, in a statement, acknowledged the support and vision of Governor Peter Mbah, “whose commitment to aviation development continues to strengthen connectivity and economic growth in the region.” The statement said the milestone moves the airline another step forward as they continue building an airline customers can always count on. Enugu Air officially launched operations on July 7, 2025, from Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, initially connecting the state to Abuja and Lagos. The state-owned airline, which is yet to acquire its Air Operator Certificate, AOC, began with three Embraer jets (E170/E190). Speaking at the official launch ceremony, Mbah said: “Today, we have our own airline. And with it, we’re opening doors to a sector that once felt out of reach. Enugu Air has given more wings to our dreams, and today, we take that first flight together. “A giant leap for Enugu State, a gold standard for government and private partnership. In the euphoria of the moment, however, we must never forget to give compliments where it is due. “Our chosen operator, XE Jet Airlines, is a 100 percent Nigerian-owned entity with a solid record of reliable, sustainable and successful aviation operations.”
