Cubana Chief Priest links Davido’s Grammy loss to ‘refusal to support demonic forces’

2026-02-02 - 16:19

By Adegboyega Adeleye Nigerian socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has alleged that Afrobeats superstar singer, Davido’s recent loss at the Grammys was a deliberate attempt to frustrate and make him succumb to the will of some music executives, who want him to indulge in “demonic activities.” Recall that Davido lost the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 Grammy Awards Ceremony, which was held on Sunday night at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. The award went to South African star Tyla for her hit song “Push 2 Start” off the album “Tyla.” Reacting via an Instagram post, Cubana Chiefpriest linked Davido’s losing streak to his refusal to align with western values, urging him to never compromise for alleged “demonic” Western music industry activities. He further encouraged the singer to move past the setback and continue to entertain his fans with his music, regardless of whether he gets an award for it or not. He wrote, “Oyibo dey do everything possible to break a strong man so he can do their demonic sh*t with them but he will never do ot. Heads up brother, open the bag and drop another hot one for us. E no dey finish, gbedu na water.” View this post on Instagram Tyla clinched the award with her hit “Push 2 Start”, surpassing strong competition from Nigerian stars Burna Boy (“Love”), Ayra Starr and Wizkid (“Gimme Dat”), as well as Davido (“With You” featuring Omah Lay) and Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin (“Hope & Love”). The award was her second Grammy, having won her first in 2024 for her hit single ‘Water.’ Vanguard News
