CNS unveils block of four classrooms in Orhueren Central School

By Jimitota Onoyume The people of Ozalla community, Owan West local government area, Edo state were full of gratitude when the Chief of Naval Staff ,CNS, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, unveiled a block of four classrooms under the Naval Special Intervention Quick Impact Project, at Orhueren Central School, in the community. Represented by the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Nigerian Navy Logistics Command, Oghara, Delta, Rear Adm. Abiodun Alade, the Chief of Naval staff , CNS, Vice Admiral Abbas, said the project was initiated in 2024 to consolidate the existing civil military relations with communities and to contribute to the renewed hope agenda of the federal government. Continuing, he explained that an eminent son of the community Rear Adm. James Okosun, nominated the four blocks of classrooms to the Navy to be built in his honour under the ” CNS Special Intervention Quick Impact Project”. “This CNS’s Special Intervention Quick Impact Project undertaken by Rear Adm. James Okosun, an illustrious son of Ozalla Community is yet another watershed in the Nigerian Navy civil-military cooperation annal. “These projects are avenues for the Nigerian Navy to honour it’s accomplished senior officers and an indication that beyond physically securing lives and properties, Navy is committed to serving the interest of Nigerians through other means “Traditionally and indeed globally, civil-military cooperations encompasses those activities and interactions between the military and civil society, towards the accomplishments of missions and military strategic objectives “he said. While urging the school to make good use of the well furnished block of classrooms for enhancement of learning the CNS further enjoined the community and people of the state to see the Navy and other security agencies as reliable partners in the fight against crime. “Today’s project is the construction of a block of four classrooms in the Ozalla Community. “Not only does this project resonate with the vision of President Bola Tinubu, it aptly captures the essence for the Special Intervention Quick Impact Project of the Nigerian Navy,” he added. Rear Adm. James Okosun, an indigene of Ozalla community expressed gratitude to the CNS , expressing hope that the furnished block of classrooms will add value to learning in the area. “We looked at education as one key aspect. Initially, we thought of going to the secondary school, unfortunately the Senator representing Edo North Senatorial zone had already started a project there. “It was on that basis, we came back to the palace and the palace brought us to this primary school,” he said. The King of Ozalla Community, Christopher Atietie, Okpamen XI who spoke through Dr Obaze Osumah , graciously thanked the Nigerian Navy for the project. The Councillor representing Ozalla Ward One, Hon Ohimai Elijah, thanked Rear Adm. Okosun for nominating the project, urging other privileged sons and daughters of the community to emulate him by coming to add value to the area. Head Teacher of Orhueren Central School, Mrs Iboi Elizabeth, assured that the donated block of classrooms, tastefully furnished would be appropriately used.
