By Chimaobi Nwaiwu NNEWI — The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Rev. Dr. Daniel Okoh, has warned that lawlessness and lack of peace are at the root of Nigeria’s persistent insecurity and developmental challenges. Speaking during the Episcopal visit of Rt. Rev. Abel Oguejiofor to the Nibo District Headquarters of Christ Holy Church International, Most Rev. Okoh said that Nigerians must embrace peace and obey the laws of the land to curb killings, kidnappings, and other societal vices. Represented by Rt. Rev. Oguejiofor at the event, he noted, “In Nigeria, we cannot achieve anything meaningful without peace. The problem we have today is because there is no peace, there is lawlessness, and disrespect for the rule of law. Lack of peace breeds insecurity, killings, kidnappings, and disorder.” He also criticized political leaders for failing to uphold the very rules they enact, stressing that “if the politicians can embrace peace and play politics according to the laws, there will not be any problem. The makers of the laws must obey them for Nigerians to follow suit.” Venerable David Achukwu of the Christ Holy Church Awka Superintendency urged citizens to follow the teachings of Christ, while the newly appointed Vicar, Rev. Pastor Geoffrey Chukwudi Madubuike, called on Christians to remain steadfast in faith for sustenance and progress. His wife, Supervisory Channel Blessing Madubike, encouraged patience and trust in God, reminding believers that God never fails those who rely on Him. The visit also included a Thanksgiving Service and the formal welcoming of the Madubikes to the Nibo District Headquarters, reinforcing a message of faith, obedience, and peace ahead of the 2027 general elections.
