Anura was reportedly attacked by a man described by residents as mentally unstable and later succumbed to her injuries. The incident occurred in January 2026 in Naka, the headquarters of Gwer West Local Government Area. According to a Facebook post shared on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, by Ado Benjamin, the suspect allegedly assaulted Comfort with a stick, causing severe injuries. Sources said tensions rose in the aftermath of the attack, and the alleged assailant was killed at the scene shortly afterward. However, details surrounding the circumstances of his death remain unclear, as authorities have yet to issue an official statement. The incident has thrown the community into mourning, with many residents expressing grief over the loss. Friends and neighbours described Comfort as vibrant and full of promise, noting that her sudden death has deeply affected family and loved ones. She is scheduled to be laid to rest on March 7, 2026, in her hometown of Tse-Ashwe, Mbabija, Mbachohon, in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State. The tragedy has also sparked renewed calls for greater attention to mental health awareness and improved access to support services, particularly in rural communities. Authorities are expected to provide further clarification as investigations continue.
