By Vincent Ujumadu The Anambra State House of Assembly is set to review the suspension of Hon. Bernard Udemezue, who represents Ayamelum Constituency. Udemezue was initially suspended on August 28, 2025, following a report by the Committee on Ethics and Privileges over alleged unparliamentary conduct. His suspension was later extended by three months for failing to comply with the House’s initial directives, starting from November 26, 2025, and is due to lapse on February 26, 2026. During plenary, Speaker Somtochukwu Udeze directed the House Committee on Rules, Ethics and Privileges, chaired by Majority Leader Ikenna Ofodeme, to urgently review the matter and report back at the next sitting. The committee is tasked with assessing Udemezue’s compliance with House resolutions before making recommendations. Sources indicate that the suspension could be lifted at the next plenary, as Udemezue is believed to have shown remorse.
