By Chancel Bomadi Sunday Niger Delta philanthropist and Petroleum Economics, High Chief (Hon.) Thompson Robert Fuoye has formally declared his intention to vie for the seat of Burutu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives for the forthcoming 2027 general elections. Making his intentions known to the Burutu Local Government Council Executives of the All Progressives Congress, APC, weekend, High Chief Fuoye, who hails from Tuomo Ward 3, said his decision was in response to calls by his constituents to present himself for service to them on one hand, and his burning desire to draw federal government attention to the oil-rich but suffering riverine communities. He asserted that, upon election, he would have the opportunity to engage and converse with his fellow members of the House in the language they comprehend best, to ardently advocate for the needs of his constituents. He emphasised that his linguistic prowess would greatly assist in advancing urgent matters pertaining to his constituency, which he plans to bring forth before the House. He said: “I am here officially to present myself to the Local Government Executive Committee of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, over my intention to contest for the seat of Burutu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives for the forthcoming 2027 general elections. I’m here to tell you officially that I am in the race. “My main aim of contesting for this seat stems from the desire to represent my people at the Green Chambers in order to address the issues of the seeming neglect and bring federal presence to Burutu Federal Constituency. “As an Ijaw who was born in the northern part of Nigeria, schooled in the Southwest, I believe I can talk to my colleagues in the House in the language they understand most concerning issues of my constituency. Ultimately, I will influence the needed federal presence in the constituency. I will work to ensure that our challenges are given the needed attention. “If I’m given the opportunity to serve my people, I will work hard to engage the youth in meaningful endeavours through the establishment of local factories in Burutu Federal Constituency. “My vision is Fresh Breath for the people of Burutu Federal Constituency, and I will not disappoint the mandate when given”. Fuoye also congratulated the party executives for their emergence at the recent party primaries. The chairman of the APC in Burutu Local Government Area, Moni Seikemiegha, thanked the aspirant for following the due process of the party, stressing that the party executives will provide a level playing ground for all aspirants. “I can assure you that we will provide a level playing grounds for all aspirants without fear or favour. My Exco members and I have resolved to provide a level field for all aspirants, and I also urge all Exco members to play neutral until candidates have emerged to fly the flag of the party,” he said. He further tasked all party faithful to respect the party structure for the progress and success of the party at the grassroots. The highlight of the occasion was the overwhelming support and solidarity chants from supporters of the aspirant.
