By Luminous Jannamike ABUJA — The Accord party has begun a nationwide electronic registration and membership revalidation exercise that will determine who participates in its congresses, primaries and conventions ahead of the 2027 general elections. The move is part of the party’s effort to build a verified digital database of its members across Nigeria and in the diaspora, which it plans to use for accrediting members during key internal activities as preparations gradually build toward the next election cycle. The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the National Chairman of the party, Maxwell Mgbudem. The party said the exercise is open to both existing members and Nigerians who wish to join the platform. Those who had previously registered with the party are also required to take part again so their information can be updated on the new digital platform. Accord explained that the registration exercise follows a new electoral governance framework that encourages political parties to maintain credible digital membership records. “This is in accordance with the new electoral governance framework that provides for a digital membership register that will ascertain authentic members of our great party and be used to accredit them for congresses, primaries and conventions as we gallantly prepare for the 2027 general election. “The national leadership has forwarded guidelines for a seamless e-registration exercise as time is of the essence. “Accordingly, Ward, Local Government, State, Zonal executives are urged to mobilise members to participate in extensive membership drive that will culminate in Accord winning upcoming elections,” the statement said. The party also used the opportunity to encourage Nigerians to support its platform as it continues to grow its presence nationwide.
